This painting of Joko (Jokowi) Widodo, a candidate in Indonesia's presidential election, was done in Paint Joy on a 4.3" Android phone with my finger. Although I've been a supporter of Jokowi since the governor election, in fact this is the first time I do his portrait. And Paint Joy is doing very well. One reason of using Paint Joy is because it supports playback video; all the process is recorded by the app so you can play it to see each brush strokes.
It took several hours to paint this but I did a lot of breaks in between. I started to paint at 7 p.m. and fell asleep after a few minutes and did it again when I woke up at 1 a.m. Then at 4 in the morning, as I ate my sahur, I continued until it was done.
Despite its playback, Paint Joy lacks some features. The canvas resolution, first of all, is very low. As you can see, this image isn't that sharp comparing to my other digital pieces. Second, there's no layer and blending mode. You work only in a single canvas and you must pay careful attention to each stroke you make. Some brushes can't be pushed to maximum size.
